Modern Meets Nature

This homeowner had recently built a new modern Scandinavian style lake house and wanted a landscape that would match the house. The solution was a low maintenance, modern front yard consisting of native plants. Reusing the existing limestone rock on site, a new retaining wall was created to help deal with the stormwater runoff that was coming onto the driveway next to the garage. A rock swale helps to direct the stormwater off the street but also serves as an additional parking area for the homeowners. A moss boulder retaining wall was placed near the front of the driveway to add interest. In between the two retaining walls is a sea of native grasses to create a low maintenance front yard.
