The Courtyard on the Corner

The homeowners had just bought this fixer-upper and wanted a landscape that would reflect the remodeling in the house. The solution is a Victorian style landscape that has native landscaping to provide year round interest while being low maintenance. A new courtyard space was created right by the front door that has a 2ft tall perimeter block wall. Outside the courtyard is a mixture of native grasses and wildflowers. The courtyard is divided into 4 areas with a central focal point around a smokebush that will provide purple leaf color through out the growing season. A hedge of boxwoods line the paths to help define the planting areas. Each of the four planting areas in the courtyard allows the homeowner to grow herbs and vegetables with a few wildflowers for a splash of color.
